CMT's Nashville Receives GLAAD Media Awards Nomination

Nashville is feeling the love for promoting the love.

The hit CMT series has been nominated for “Outstanding Drama Series” at the upcoming GLAAD Media Awards, which "recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community and the issues that affect their lives."

Nashville features openly gay character Will Lexington, played by actor Chris Carmack, as he navigates what it means to be both a country singer and gay.

The show also welcomed its first-ever transgender character and actress and added a new LGBT character as a series regular in season five.

The GLAAD Media Awards nomination is the first-ever for CMT, which continues to blaze a trail of love and acceptance.

The 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards hit Los Angeles on April 12th and New York City on May 5th. See the full list of nominations here.

Nashville airs Thursdays at 9/8c on CMT.
