Boston Bombing Survivor Helps 19 Year Old Amputee

19 year old Vidalito Lopez, known as Vidal to his friends and family, lost both legs last summer, due to a terrible accident involving a tractor trailer.

These days, Vidal is getting used to his state-of-the-art NEW legs, thanks to the Heather Abbott Foundation! The Foundation was created in 2013, following the Boston Marathon Terror attack, when Heather lost her left leg below the knee.

Abbott told the Chicago-Tribune "she knew she wanted to help Lopez as soon as she saw his application. He included a picture of himself in a wheelchair without any prosthetics and talked about how limited he felt, Abbott said."

She is a rock star. I mean, seriously, she even designed a prosthetic with a high heel!

Since the attack, The Heather Abbott Foundation has assisted 11 amputees, including Vidal, in receiving customized prosthetics that were not covered by insurance.

The teen's new legs supposedly cost between $70,000 and $80,000.

Lopez has high hopes of "getting back to normal." He's looking forward to running, soccer and riding his motorcycle. Thanks to The Heather Abbott Foundation, the possibilities are endless.

Visit their website, see some of the other recipients and get involved. This organization has MORE than a leg to stand on.
