You have been so supportive of Team BIG 98's training and fundraising for St Jude Children's Research Hospital and we can't thank you enough. There was a reason YOU decided to help St Jude - our "heroes" have their reasons too.
Team BIG 98 St. Jude Hero Spotlight: Jen
Meet Jen Pitts. Jen learned about St Jude right after graduating High School. She immediately committed to becoming a "Partner in Hope" by donating monthly to the hospital. Her devotion went even further, when in 2011, Jen learned she could help the hospital by using her feet. She signed up as a St Jude Hero to fundraise for St Jude while training for the St Jude Rock 'n' Roll Race.
Although running was a struggle at first, and Jen will tell you she still doesn't "love it," thinking about those patients at St. Jude gives her the motivation to push through and run for those who would give anything to take her place. To this day, participating in races as a St. Jude Hero keeps her involved in the running community and holds her accountable to her fitness goals.
Jen has since participated in four Warrior Dash events and four half marathon portions of the St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon – this coming Saturday will make five!

Team BIG 98 St. Jude Hero Spotlight: Megan
It was through the BIG 98, Megan first learned about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, even before moving to Nashville. She happened to have been listening to iHeartRadio and stumbled upon the BIG 98's Annual St Jude Radiothon. The outpouring of passion for St Jude and the idea of families never having to worry about seeing a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food, was something Megan needed to be part of.
Fundraising is nothing new to Megan. She recalls attending the funeral of a neighborhood child who had passed from Leukemia. That day, she vowed to do all she could to help spare others the pain of losing a child. That's where the fundraising journey began for Megan and continues today for St Jude.
Last year, she participated in Rock ‘n’ Roll races in Nashville and Savannah, Georgia, raising $5,000, on her own, for the kids at St. Jude. She's an incredible asset to Team BIG 98 who has found her way into the hearts of our business and art communities. They love and support her passion as much as we do!
She will stop at NOTHING to help St Jude. Cancer will have to give up the fight, because Megan will not. This will be Megan's Fourth Half Marathon. Cheer on our girl by donating to St Jude HERE.
Team BIG 98 St. Jude Hero Spotlight: Ken
When the son of close friends was diagnosed with a brain tumor, Ken was devastated. The family and friends never gave up, even as Max underwent surgery, chemotherapy and was diagnosed cancer free.
Max loved Star Wars, and always vowed to “defeat the Dark Side” as a Jedi Master. Even when his cancer returned, Max kept fighting.
Unfortunately, he lost his fight in spring of 2013. While many people would be beaten down by this, Ken used Max’s fight as a catalyst to help other children facing the “Dark Side.”
For Ken, supporting St. Jude was a natural fit, as the hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Because he works two jobs, it’s rare that Ken finds time to train for races like the St. Jude Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville Marathon. But that doesn’t stop him. The way he sees it, no child or family plans on getting cancer, and if they can go through all of that with a smile on their face, the least he can do is run and raise money.
Ken is running for a reason and using his race to raise money for the kids of St. Jude. Thanks to the support of St. Jude Heroes like Ken, families never pay St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. We are SO grateful for his incredible spirit on Team BIG 98!
Support Ken by donating to St Jude HERE and may the force be with us all.
