According to this instagram post, Dierks Bentley is doing something most of us would never have the courage to do. He's breaking up with his iPhone.
taking a vacation....from my IPHONE! wish me luck. "packing" everything im gonna need for the experience ha. amazing how much you can do with the iphone but equally amazing what an addictive little device it is. it sometimes feels like the never ending blitzkrieg of news, info, etc is sucking any intelligent thought out of my brain...and there isn't too much in there to begin with! thinking the typewriter might be a little over the top... let you know you it goes............
Dierks is right. Not only does your intelligence level drop, but smartphones will drain your energy faster than Snapchat drains that battery.
A new study out of the University of Texas found that just by being in the same room as your smartphone, your brain goes into "dumb" mode when it realizes the need to "think" is not as demanding when you have something that will do the thinking for you, so it doesn't. Researchers also say we're so addicted to our phones that we burn extra energy by resisting the urge to pick it up and check notifications.
Not sure if lugging a typewriter around is the answer, but definitely take a lesson from Dierks...give your phone a rest and recharge your life.
