Nashville Songwriter Spotlight: Chris DeStefano

The songwriters in Nashville deserve the spotlight just as much as their awesome songs. Chris DeStefano is a rock star. He’s back again for this year’s Songs and Stories for St Jude along with JT Harding, Jon Nite and Matt Jenkins at Wildhorse on April 8th.

We know his music, let’s get to know Chris.

1) Call him "Sir Chris DeStefano." Yep. He's officially a "Knight."

In 2012, Chris DeStefano co-wrote Miranda Lambert/Carrie Underwood's "Somethin' Bad," during a songwriters retreat, held at a castle, that was located near the Bordreaux region in France. It was said, if a song written during the retreat became a #1 hit, the writers would receive "Knighthood."

Chris DeStefano, along with co-writer Brett James, returned to the castle where they were officially knighted "Ordre des Cevaliers Troubadours de Marouatte." Apparently, the ceremony is legit with swords, robes, goblets - you know - your typical "Knight" stuff. There's nothing TYPICAL about "Knight" stuff or Chris DeStefano.

2) Chris loves hockey. Biggest Preds fan you’ll ever meet. When he’s not watching the game, he’s playing. Chris is part of a hockey league and hits the ice as often as possible.

3) A master in the studio AND the kitchen, Chris DeStefano has been brushing up on his culinary skills by taking Gordon Ramsay's Master Chef Course.

Songs you might recognize that were written or co-written by Chris DeStefano:

Carrie Underwood "The Champion," Chris Young "Losing Sleep," Dan and Shay "From the Ground Up," Miranda Lambert/Carrie Underwood "Somethin' Bad," Rascal Flatts "Rewind," Jason Aldean "Just Gettin' Started," Brett Eldredge "Don't Ya," Luke Bryan "That's My Kind of Night," Billy Currington "Hey Girl" and MORE.

DeStefano's version of Brett Eldredge "Don't Ya" is a highlight EVERY YEAR.

There's so much to say about Chris DeStefano, but the music really speaks for itself. This will be his fourth year performing with Songs and Stories for St Jude. We keep asking and he keeps saying "yes!" It's an honor to have him back again. Don't miss this special "Knight." #SeeWhatIDidThere
