While police and media were still interviewing victims and witnesses, a woman gave birth in the parking lot of the Antioch Waffle House where hours earlier, four people had been shot and killed.
A car pulled into the parking lot, which was surrounded by crime scene tape. A man got out of the car and seemed distressed. He was speaking Spanish. Luckily, one of the employees on the scene understood a bit of what he was saying. Finally, the spanish speaking man tapped a police officer on the shoulder and in English said, "Baby, baby, baby!"
The woman had given birth. The baby boy was in her lap. They were transported to Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital, where Mother and child are both said to be doing well.
