"Big orange ball, sinking in the water..." -Kenny Chesney - How Forever Feels
Can't get enough of it. Sunsets are one of the many gifts from God that my eyes never grow tired of. Our trip to the West Coast was filled with beautiful sunsets, so I thought I'd bring a few home for y'all.
Our journey began in San Francisco. We rented a car and drove a bit along the coast stopping at the sleepy surf/beach communities of Carmel and Cambria before heading back to Nashville. Our main attractions (besides the sunsets) were Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, BIG SUR and Hearst Castle.
My favorite portions of our journey were the road trips (anywhere from 90 minutes to two and a half) between destinations (phones/electronics in Mommy's purse, kids). My husband created the perfect playlist to sing along with and God provided the stunning scenery.
The first few pictures were taken from a Sunset Cruise that departed from Fisherman's Wharf. I highly recommend it.
About 2 hours South of San Francisco is a little town called, "Carmel." The beach is located at the bottom of a pretty legit hill (lined with adorable shops, motels and restaurants). It's totally worth the walk down (and back up) to see those sunsets. You can drive it, but we walked (not gonna say the kids liked it). We had a feeling we might have to burn off some treats (Cottage of Sweets).
Located about two and a half hours south of Carmel is the sweet little town of Cambria. The motel we stayed at (Cambria Beach Lodge) was directly across from Moonstone Beach. These photos were taken around 8:30 pm.
As you probably guessed, these pictures don't do those sunsets justice. See for yourself!
Let me know if you plan on chasing a few California sunsets - you'll catch plenty and I'd be more than happy to share some travel tips before you go.
