God bless these men and women who went out of their way to take care of this little boy, just as his father would, if he wasn't brutally killed in the line of duty.
Dozens of police squad cars lined the neighborhood block where Aaron Allan Jr and his Mother live. Red lights rotated silently as the little boy, backpack on, came out of his house headed for the first day of school.
The story is terribly sad. You can read the full details here. One year ago, his father had been killed only hours after putting him on the bus for his first day of Kindergarten. Aaron Allan served as lieutenant for the Southport Indiana police department. The officers vowed to care for the family as their own and said, "The will never be forgotten."
