Halloween Safety: Map Registered Sex Offenders in Tennessee

Halloween could be really scary, especially if your children are old enough to trick-or-treat independently or with friends. Do we really know who waits behind those doors? Tennessee is known to have the most registered sex offenders in the United States. If you're concerned about your children, this information may ease your fears.

1) There’s a website that will list all registered sex offenders based on your location. You may do an extensive search here

2) According to Fox 17 news, offenders legally must adhere to the following rules on Halloween.

  • Not be in costumes
  • Not have decorations
  • Not open their doors to children.
  • Have their porch light off.
  • Be in their homes from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
And, please remember - just because a neighbor's lights are off - does NOT mean they're a sex offender. Be safe and responsible this Halloween.
