When bullets started flying on Sunday, Tom McIntosh ran just like everybody else and helped his wife and another woman escape over a wall. Just before he could get away, he was shot in the leg. Luckily, he still managed to make it over the wall even though he was bleeding horribly.
A guy named James Lawson saw him and stopped to help. Lawson, who is an Army Reservist, used a belt as a makeshift tourniquet to stop the bleeding and stayed with him for about 10 minutes until he was able to load him onto a pickup truck and drive him to the hospital.
This morning on the Today show, Lawson surprised him on live TV!
