According to Gizmodo, Uber drivers are getting an app update that restricts their ability to recover previous rider's addresses.
As of now, Uber drivers have a record of exact drop-off and pick-up locations of all their rides. The addresses are stored indefinitely in a database. Worst case creepy scenario is if a driver remembers you for whatever reason, they can go back and find your address!
“Location data is our most sensitive information, and we are doing everything we can do to protect privacy around it,” an Uber spokesperson said. “The new design provides enough information for drivers to identify past trips for customer support issues or earning disputes without granting them ongoing access to rider addresses.”
There are hundreds of creepy ride experiences people have had with Uber. Hopefully, this driver update will help eliminate some of it.
