Lauren Alaina Competes On 'Dancing With The Stars' Despite Rib Injury

Lauren Alaina stunned the judges during Dancing With The Stars Halloween night (October 28) when she revealed a rib injury.

The country singer and her partner, Gleb Savchenko, hit the dance floor to perform the tango to Sarah Vaughan's "Whatever Lola Wants" or as Alaina jokes, "Whatever Lauren Wants."

After completing their dance, Alaina and Savchenko were given a score of 27 out of a possible 30 points by the judges. One judge, Carrie Ann Inaba, made it a point to say how strong Alaina's core looked during the dance. In a brief interview afterwards with the show host, Erin Andrews, Alaina revealed she's been competing with an injury since week one.

"I have four hurt ribs," she says. "When she [Inaba] said my core looked strong I looked straight at Gleb because all I have been trying to do is pretend my ribs aren't broken this whole competition. I fractured the one on the left the first week of the show and I haven't had these X-rayed, but they don't feel great."

Everyone, shocked to hear of Alaina's injuries, gave her a round of applause for her strength and fight through the season.

"She's strong. I'm so proud that she got through it," Savchenko said. "We had a tough week and I'm really proud of you. You did a great job."

Last week, Alaina received a 26 out of 30 possible points for her emotional dance to "The Other Side," a song she wrote as a tribute to her late stepfather, Sam Ramker.

"I wrote 'The Other Side' in Sam's memory," Alaina shares. "I wanted to create a song that did him justice. He couldn't hear me sing without crying because he was so proud of me...I wrote this song so that he can live on, and never be forgotten."

Ramker died last year after a battle with Stage IV cancer. Monday, October 21 marked the one year anniversary of this death.

Fans can watch Alaina's battle to win season 28 of Dancing With The Stars every Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
