A Candlelight Vigil Planned for MNPD's Eric Mumaw

If you drive by the Madison Police Precinct, you’ll see a squad car covered in flowers balloons and candles.

That car was driven by Officer Eric Mumaw, an 18 year vet with the metro police department, who sacrificed his life trying to save another. He passed away on Thursday morning, while trying to rescue a woman who was attempting suicide in the Cumberland River.

Support is pouring out from the community. The Madison-Rivergate Chamber of Commerce is selling signs that say, "We support those risking their lives to protect others,” in his honor. Proceeds go directly to Mumaw's family.

A candlelight vigil is being held tonight (Friday) in his Officer Mumaw’s memory. You’re invited to attend. 7 p.m. at Peeler Park.

You can send condolences to Mumaw's family and friends by emailing OfficerMumaw@nashville.gov.
