Brian Cullinan and Martha Ruiz are out of a gig.
They were the two accountants in charge of the winning envelopes at the Oscars...and are thus the two people responsible for the Best Picture drama. Now, the Academy has severed ties with the duo.
"They have one job to do. One job to do!" Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs says. "Obviously there was a distraction." While Cullinan was the one who handed Warren Beatty the wrong envelope, Boone Isaacs explains neither he or his partner moved fast enough to correct the error.
The "correct" envelope that never made it into the "correct" hands.

It's unclear if Cullinan and Ruiz are out of their jobs at PricewaterhouseCoopers, but the agency released a statement after the awards saying they take "full responsibility for the series of mistakes and breaches of established protocols."
