Elle Kingâs headlining set at an iconic Texas venue that was slated to take place this Friday (January 26) has been postponed to September, per an announcement on Wednesday (January 24). Billy Bobâs Texas, hailed the âworldâs largest honky tonkâ in Fort Worth, announced Kingâs show would be rescheduled.
King, 34, was initially set to take the stage this Friday at 10 p.m. The event is pushed back to Saturday, September 21 at the same time. Billy Bobâs Texas stated: âOriginal event tickets will be accepted for the new date. Refunds are available at the point of purchase. Thank you for understanding!â Neither Billy Bobâs Texas nor King shared an explanation for the postponed show as of publication time on Wednesday afternoon (January 24). King has not publicly announced or commented on the newly-scheduled date in Fort Worth.
A representative for the Texas venue reportedly told TMZ that Kingâs team told Billy Bobâs on Wednesday that King would no longer perform, though the team apparently did not explain why.
The announcement comes shortly after King delivered a performance in honor of Dolly Parton that prompted an apology from the Grand Ole Opry. King was part of the lineup during an âOpry Goes Dollyâ show to celebrate the music legendâs 78th birthday on January 19. The show was held at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee.
Videos circulated on social media of King appearing drunk on stage, telling the crowd she was âf***ing hammered,â âholy sh*t, donât tell Dolly [as she seemed to forget the lyrics to Partonâs âMarry Meâ on stage],â and other comments using profanity.
The Grand Ole Opry apologized to one social media user, who said King âruined the night,â and âit was a shame to witness thatâ during their first time seeing an Opry show. The Opry wrote: ââĻwe deeply regret and apologize for the language that was used during last nightâs second Opry performance.â
Since then, comments about Kingâs performance have circulated on social media, including from Partonâs younger sister, Stella Parton. Stella, 74, said in part: âWhen you disrespect someone in my family you have disrespected every one of us.â
King has not publicly commented on the tribute performance as of publication time on Wednesday.
