RaeLynn debuted the ballad that serves as a heartfelt letter to her younger self on Friday (March 15). The Texas-born singer-songwriter previously delivered an acoustic rendition of “Funny Girl” on Instagram, and it’s since been a widely-demanded anthem as her fans awaited the release date. RaeLynn opens the song:

“Funny girl, how’ve you been?/ I’ve been you, girl, since I was 10/ Funny girl, keep cracking jokes/ When sh*t gets real, that’s all you’ll know/ The life of the party, tonight’s entertainment, a clear sky when the parade’s raining/ Yeah, I know you’re mad at where you’re at/ Gettin’ jealous of your friends/ Riding shotgun seat to the homecoming queen with a label on your back/ But you’re sweeter/ Hell, you’re tougher/ Take it from me, you’ll be a good mother and you’ll find a man and damn you’ll rock his world/ Life ain’t mean, it’s just funny, girl.”

In January, the Voice alum confirmed that her third full-length studio album is in the works as she played a rendition of “Funny Girl” for the first time. RaeLynn’s most recent full-length album is BAYTOWN, a 14-track project titled as a nod to her Texas hometown. She paid tribute to her beginnings again with “I Love My Hometown,” which made its debut on a 2-track collection that also included “If God Took Days Off.” Since then, she’s also released “Raisin’ Me A Country Girl” — a tribute to her daughter, Daisy Rae, who was born shortly before BAYTOWN released in September 2021 — “What’s Wrong With That?,” and other songs.
