Luke Bryan wanted to âclear the airâ about rumors that he falls on stage because heâs been drinking.
Bryan caught up with Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday evening (May 6), catching up with the comedian about his mother, an unusual allergy, American Idol, and hoping that his 2020 single âOne Margaritaâ will become a Cinco de Mayo anthem.
âIâm a little worried about you,â Kimmel told Bryan. âYou seem to be falling down a lot.â
Kimmel showed a compilation of several videos recorded by fans attending Bryanâs concerts over the years. Most recently, Bryan took a tumble on stage in Canada. Videos circulated of the moment the âLove You, Miss You, Mean Itâ artist falling backward on stage and landing on a concertgoerâs phone. Bryan has since said he fell because the stage was âslick.â He reiterated to Kimmel that he believes his water bottle spilled and caused him to lose his footing. Then, Bryan decided to âclear the airâ about some rumorâs heâs read from commenters online.
âFirst of all, everybody â you check the comments (and see) the fans talking about the fall, and thereâs nine out of 10 comments that point to me being drunk,â Bryan said. âNo (I wasnât drunk). But this is my chance to clear the air on this âdrinking and fallingâ (allegation). Listen. Iâm 6â2ââ, Iâm up there trying to do Michael Jackson moves in too big of a frame, and when you add water to a stage in slick cowboy boots you go down hard. Itâs not alcohol, fans! It is not alcohol. People are assuming. You just canât drink a bottle of vodka and go do a two-hour show.
âIf youâre gonna be stupid, you gotta be tough. I am that,â Bryan added later. âSo, somehow Iâve dodged injury and I canât predict when it will happen again.â
Bryan recently kicked off his headlining âMind Of A Country Boy Tour.â The lineup includes, on select dates: Tenille Arts, Chayce Beckham, George Birge, King Calaway, Dillon Carmichael, Larry Fleet, HunterGirl, Ella Langley, Tracy Lawrence, Kameron Marlowe, Chase Matthew, Meghan Patrick, Lily Rose, Josh Ross, Alana Springsteen, Zach Top and DJ Rock. Bryan will also take the stage at Truist Field in Atlanta, Georgia, and Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois, with Bailey Zimmerman, Marlowe and Beckham, and Zimmerman, Lawrence and Beckham, respectively.
