Carly Pearce marked a full circle moment on the historic Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Grammy-winning country star shared a clip of her recent performance with Opry member Ricky Skaggs on Instagram on Wednesday (September 17). Together, the pair delivered a rendition of “Blue Moon Of Kentucky.” The classic was written by Bill Monroe, a late singer-songwriter and mandolinist who is often hailed the “Father of Bluegrass,” named in honor of his band, the Blue Grass Boys. Monroe died on September 9, 1996. He was 84.
Pearce and Skaggs paid tribute to Monroe with the “Blue Moon Of Kentucky” performance as part of the Opry's centennial celebrations in 2025. It marked a full circle moment for Pearce, who performed the same song at the first-ever talent show she won as a fourth grade student.
“Growing up in Kentucky, Bill Monroe and Ricky Skaggs were two of the biggest influences in my musical journey,” Pearce, who was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2021, wrote in her caption on Instagram on Wednesday. “As a kid, I loved bluegrass music and when I was in fourth grade, I won my first talent show singing this song. Last night we got to honor Bill Monroe for the Opry 100 and it was SO special to have Ricky join me and my band on stage!”
