Billy Ray Cyrus took a look back at some childhood memories with his daughter, pop icon Miley Cyrus, as she released a song dedicated to him on Friday (September 19).
Miley, 32, debuted “Secrets” on the 15-track deluxe edition of her latest studio record, Something Beautiful. The ballad features Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood. Miley said “Secrets” “was written as a peace offering for someone I had lost for a time but always loved. In my experience, forgiveness and freedom are one and the same. …This song is for my dad.”
Billy Ray, 64, said “Secrets” is the “best birthday gift a dad could ever ask for,” he wrote in a caption on Instagram in the early morning hours on Friday (September 19). “Thank you [Miley Cyrus] for Secrets... a song straight from your heart to mine. The memories we’ve made together mean the world to me, and seeing you soar with your music makes me prouder every single day. Having Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood on this track is pure magic.”
The “Achy Breaky Heart” artist shared a compilation of videos and photos with Miley throughout her life, many from her childhood. He said he hopes “y’all enjoy this as much as I do.” See it here.
Billy Ray previously shared a sneak peek of the song before its release. He shared at that time: “For my birthday, Miley gave me the gift of music and wrote me a song called Secrets and got my favorite musicians Fleetwood Mac to play on it! I love you Mile ❤️”
Billy Ray shares Miley with ex-wife Tish Cyrus, 58. The couple married in 1993 and divorced in 2022 after nearly three decades of marriage. Billy Ray and Tish also share Brandi Cyrus, 38, and Trace Cyrus, 36 — Billy Ray adopted them when he married their mother — Braison Cyrus, 31, and Noah Cyrus, 25. Billy Ray is also a father to son Christopher Cody Cyrus, 33, from a previous relationship. Since the divorce, Tish has remarried actor Dominic Purcell, 55, and Billy Ray is dating actress Elizabeth Hurley, 60. Listen to Miley’s new ballad, dedicated to Billy Ray, here:
