HARDY reflected on the songwriting process for “McArthur,” a star-studded collaboration with Morgan Wallen, Eric Church and Tim McGraw.
The award-winning singer-songwriter teamed up with Jameson Rogers, Josh Thompson and Chase McGill to write “McArthur,” which was produced by Jay Joyce. The generation-spanning song was a “medium write,” HARDY said, explaining why the group needed to take “extra time” on it:
“This particular write, I would just say it was like a medium write. It took a couple — three hours, maybe. I mean, to me, that’s a medium one. A fast one is, I always like to think under an hour. but this one was a regular write. we definitely had to do, like, some surgery on this one to make sure we had the timelines and all that kind of stuff in order. So, it took a little bit extra time.”
HARDY released “McArthur” with Wallen, Church and McGraw in January 2026. He said in a statement at the time that the collaboration is “a very special one. It came together pretty fast. I know I wrote the song, but I also feel like how did I end up on this song? It's a lineup of absolute legends.” Find HARDY’s music on iHeartRadio here.
