Tim McGraw Says Acting Is Harder Than It Looks: 'It's Not Easy'

Tim McGraw admitted that acting is more challenging than most people would think.

The country hitmaker and 2026 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee considers music “my first love.” But he’s also appeared on screen in 1883, Yellowstone, The Blind Side, Tomorrowland, Flicka, Friday Night Lights and other TV shows and movies throughout his career. McGraw admits that taking on roles isn’t as easy as it looks.

“You know, singing’s my first love, for sure,” McGraw said. “I wouldn’t have been able to get into acting without having some hit records first, I guess, but acting’s hard. It’s not easy. People think that it’s easy, and it’s not. When you’re on set and the cameras start rolling and you’re standing there with some legends that you’re having to act with, it can tighten you up just a little bit.”

McGraw delivered his self-titled debut studio record in April 1993. Throughout his decades-long career, the Louisiana-born artist has become known for “I Like It, I Love It,” “Live Like You Were Dying,” “Something Like That,” “Where The Green Grass Grows,” “Just To See You Smile,” “Down On The Farm,” “Highway Don’t Care” and much more.
