Brad Paisley is revealing long-kept secret tracks via a unique, “never-ending” project.
iHeartRadio’s Anne Hudson shared some new info about Paisley’s ongoing project. She said, “Brad Paisley has announced a really cool concept. It’s called Tacklebox, where he releases and gives fans access to unreleased and unfinished music. The first song from Tacklebox is called ‘Fallen,’ and it’s available now. He says that he sees this project as just never-ending. It’s almost like the fans have a direct link to his Dropbox, or to a playlist that never ends. I think that’s really cool.”
Tackelbox features music from Paisley’s catalog “of unreleased and unrecorded songs,” including dating back to the early days of his career in the ‘90s. Paisley wrote “Fallen” with Chris DuBois and Frank Rogers. He said on Monday (May 11), “at the time we wrote this, that was the sound. The sound of a love song. And when we went into cut this, it felt just immediately like, ‘oh, this is love in the ‘90s.’ And a lot of the kids that buy records and stream music now, you weren’t alive to feel love in the ‘90s yet. But you’re a product, probably, of this kind of song. You might be here because of this kind of song.” Since then, Paisley has also released “This Town Ain’t Small Enough,” written with DuBois.
“I see this ‘project’ as never-ending. It’s almost like the fans have a direct link to my Dropbox or to a playlist that never ends,” Paisley recently said in a statement. “We are calling it Tacklebox because it’s a box full of hooks, country lyric hooks. In this digital age, I have every song I’ve ever written at my fingertips. This project gave us a license to dig back into the catalog of songs that were never released, that feel like a time period, a style of writing, a sound, and nostalgia. We went back into the studio to record or re-record at The Castle in Franklin, TN, the same place where several of my first few albums were recorded. When I first started writing and recording music, I couldn’t have dreamed of the ability to put something out instantly for the fans.”
