Amy’s Daughter Starts First Job & Son Started Track

Amy’s daughter got her first job as a hostess that she’ll be doing during the school year. She must wear black slacks, a black shirt, black socks that go up to her calf and closed-toed shoes with a sneaker bottom for safety. Amy was unaware of the shoe policy and told her open-toe strappy sandals would be okay to wear. When she arrived for her first day, since she did not have the proper shoes on, they were unable to train her. She blamed it on her mom and told them she thought they were okay to wear, but they still sent her home. She didn’t get in trouble for it, and they explained it’s happened to others a few times before. She’s going to get the correct shoes and will be back at work in no time!

Amy’s kids start school again next week. In the meantime, her son is trying to get in all the videogame time possible and he has started track practice. When he comes home, he is drenched in sweat, so she lets him chill out and play videogames. One of his friends he games with got sick and their mother told him he couldn’t play because he was under the weather. He asked Amy what that meant because he had never heard it before, and she explained the meaning. They looked up the root of that phrase and found it’s from when Pirates would roam the sea and get too drunk, they would go under the deck to rest when they felt ill. When they did that, they were “under the weather.”
