Matt Ramsey of Old Dominion called into the Bobby Bones Show post CMA Awards and the group's record breaking win.
Old Dominion won Vocal Group of the Year at the CMAs for the 7th consecutive year, breaking a record. Ramsey admitted that in previous years, they felt confident about their wins, however this year they didn't feel like the win was going to them. There were some new group sin the category this year, and Ramsey said everyone in the category is so good and feels like they're all on the same level.
To honor the record breaking win, the group decided to do a 7 for 7 residency at The Ryman in Nashville. 7 shows to celebrate 7 consecutive wins, but each show will benefit a different charity. The group felt like they've gotten so much out of their career, and wanted to do something to give back to their fans and the community while also having a hometown residency. Ramsey admitted he still gets imposter syndrome when it comes to selling tickets. With every new show, Ramsey wonders if people will show up and he often asks their agent if the show was a stupid idea.
The group has also been hard at work at their new bar in Nashville called Odies. The bar will be in the Midtown area while majority of the other celebrity bars are in Downtown Nashville on Broadway. Ramsey said they are not trying to make their bar a big museum for their band, they just want it to be a place that has the feel good vibe that they try to project with everything they do. They also hope songwriters will go there and debut their songs as Old Dominion wants to showcase local, original talent with the new bar.
