It's pretty safe to say that Boston Red Sox players are having the best year ever. Aside from winning the World Series trophy, they're also getting HUGE holiday bonuses for their efforts.
The team is splitting a postseason bonus pool of $31.7 million. When it's all broken down and what not, each player will be getting around $416,838.
In fact, the Red Sox had the second-highest payroll this past year at $206 million, which is 232% higher than the Oakland Athletics' $62 million payroll.
Every team that made the playoffs gets a cut based on how far they go.
The World Series runner-up L.A. Dodgers each got shares of more than $262,027.
The Houston Astros got $154,656 each, the Milwaukee Brewers got $122,957 each, and so on.
Players aren't the only employees who can get a piece, either. Before the postseason, each team votes on how to distribute the money. Whole or partial shares can go to players, coaches, training staff, and anyone else.
