HBO Max is the most expensive streaming service at $14.99 a month. However, you can soon get in on HBO Max at a cheaper price. The CEO of HBO's parent company says that they're launching a cheaper, ad-supported version . . . because not everyone is sitting on piles of money right now.
He says "It turns out that most people on this planet are not wealthy. If we can wake up [and] do things elegantly through advertising to reduce the price of the service, I think that's a fantastic thing for fans."
The cheaper tier is "on track" to be unveiled later this year, but there aren't any details on how it'll work yet.
Interestingly, this is the first time a streaming service would be making itself CHEAPER. Others, like Hulu and CBS All-Access, have started with a lower cost and then added more expensive, ad-free tiers.
