MuttNation Monday: Meet Lady

Allow us to introduce you to Nashville Humane Association's Lady.... Lady is a is a 4-year-old, Pit Bull Terrier / Boxer Mix, who weighs 53 pounds. She is a spayed female, current on all her shots and is microchipped. This wonderful girl is move-in-forever-home READY!

Is there anything cuter than Lady in her jammies? This sweet angel may look like a senior, but she is just four years old. Lady arrived at NHA from a partner shelter that rescued her from a suspected hoarding case. She had spent much of her life chained in a backyard and was surviving on only what her caretakers were able to provide and give to her.

NHA's vet team was eager to meet Lady. Having heard of the condition she was in; they couldn’t wait to assess her and begin her journey back to health. Lady was malnourished, dehydrated, suffering from severe dental disease (many teeth were fractured), and was full of intestinal worms. We rid her of the worms, gave her a bath (she LOVES baths) and treated her for fleas and ticks. We also began a plan of putting weight on her thin frame. Which was difficult. This girl didn’t like ANYTHING she was being given. We put out a buffet of delicious foods, just desperate for her to want to eat something. We even bought a rotisserie chicken for her that she declined! We think her teeth were just causing her too much pain because now that she has had her broken teeth extracted, she is enjoying the soft dog food she is receiving.

It was no surprise that Lady’s heartworm test came back positive. But we’re treating that and will continue to do so even after she is adopted. This is at no cost to the adopter.

Now living on NHA's adoption floor, Lady is on the up and up! Her energy is so much better, her tail wags nonstop, and you can just feel it when you’re with her… she is hopeful. It’s like she can finally relax. The person who adopts Lady is going to experience so many firsts with her.

She’s very affectionate and will absolutely sit in your lap if given the chance. Once you meet Lady you will see that no other dog will ever #LoveHarder when ADOPTED! Nashville Humane Association is open for adoptions Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 5pm and Lady can't wait to meet her future forever family! Please visit NHA today!"
