MuttNation Monday: Meet Abe (The Babe)

Allow us to introduce you to a Nashville Humane Association (NHA) dog who's available for adoption, looking for his pawfect Forever Home, and super thankful for this featured Pet Of The Week opportunity...

Please meet AbeTheBabe. He is a 5-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix who weighs 73 pounds. Who as you can see in the pictures: He's as handsome as can be. So why is Abe The Babe in a shelter? Back in June he was transported to NHA from a suspected hoarding situation where he was neglected and had no social interaction with other dogs, plus very little interaction with humans. His living conditions were deplorable. He was injured and underweight. This guy had a ruff life. Yet, from day one, he was just as friendly as can be to his Transport Team, NHA Staff and Volunteers, greeting everyone with kisses and a wagging tail. He is the most perfect example of why we as humans don't deserve dogs and totally need to learn how to live for the day and forgive hardships from the past. "Let It Go" as Queen Elsa (and King A.T.B.) would say, sing and howl. Now that he is at NHA,Abe The Babe is getting the much-needed attention he deserves and will be forever thankful to Miranda Lambert for teaming up with The Big 98 + The Wayne D Show for MuttNation Monday!

In his own words,Abe The Babe would like to tell you a bit about himself:

"...Hi! My name is Abe The Babe. Because it’s true. I am a babe. I also have a bandaged foot. And a special cone around my head to prevent me from nibbling on my stitches. Most of the time you'll see me in my kennel with a toy in my mouth. That’s to also distract me from nibbling on my stitches. Why do I have stitches? Because I had to have some toes removed. I’m really hoping that no more “digits” need to go. But I can’t help nibbling on my wound. And it’s not healing properly. Which means there is a chance for more surgeries in my near future. Here’s where I need your help tremendously, Miranda Lamberts, MuttNation and The Big 98: Before I may be adopted, I need to move to a Foster Home. Somewhere where someone can keep an eye on me 24/7 and administer meds. I would also need to be an only pet in my Foster Home. Sound like you? A challenge you’re up for? Or maybe someone you know? I’d really appreciate it… From the bottom of my paws. Literally..."

Paws are totally crossed that after this MuttNation Monday feature, Abe The Babe will find the Foster / Foster To Adopt Home we all dream for him.If interested, please email foster@nashvillehumane.org with the subject line “Interested In Fostering Abe The Babe”

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read about Abe The Babe. He's a special guy. And after 5 years of neglect - He is on a current long medical path before being fully healed physically. He deserves that white picket fenced in yard happy ending. Don't you agree?

NHA is open for adoptions Tuesday through Sunday starting at 10am. Please come visit Abe The Babe, wish him luck on his journey, plus meet all the other wonderful pets looking for their forever homes. THANK YOU!

Once you meet Abe The Babe you will see that no other dog will ever #LoveHarder when his Forever Home happens!
