MuttNation Monday: Meet Spanky

It's MuttNation Monday. The best day of the week for an adoptable NHA Dog. Who will get the title for #LoveHarder feature this week? That would be SPANKY! This guy has been waiting SO LONG for his forever home. Our paws are crossed it will happen thanks to Miranda Lambert's MuttNation Foundation #LoveHarder campaign, which focuses on harder to adopt deserving dogs, like Spanky, looking for a GOTCHA DAY to celebrate.

It's time to meet that adoptable dog needing extra attention (drum roll please) SPANKY!

Spanky has lived at Nashville Humane Association for a little over a month. But before that? He was living in an out-of-county shelter partner's facility for over 11 months! Yup. Spanky has lived in a shelter kennel for over a year now. That's too long. Especially for a dog with movie star looks!

Thanks to Mars Petcare + Pedigree Foundation, we just had an amazing, sponsored adoption event here at NHA where over 100 pets were ADOPTED this weekend! Which is truly wonderful. And we are so very thankful. Unfortunately, Spanky was not one of those adoptions. Fortunately, that moved him to the front of the line today to visit The Big 98. Wayne D and Tay are so ready to welcome this pupper dog to their studios today.

Spanky needs his adoption dreams to come true already. Why hasn't he been adopted? Is it his breed mix? His size? His age? Not sure... Because everything about him is endearing. And comical. For the most part, when people want to adopt an adult dog, they ask for "housebroken and non-destructive" Guess what? He is both. He also walks well on the leash; PLUS is happy 24/7. The only thing that we feel may be holding him back is that he needs to be an only pet in his new home. No other dogs. No cats. Also, when he gets super excited, he acts very puppy-like, and gets a little mouthy. Which can easily be redirected with a stuffed toy. Other than that, and needless to say... he really is a fun dog who is guaranteed to put a smile on your face daily. During all his time at NHA, our dedicated Staff, Volunteers, and Fosters all have a crush on the smiling boy and just can't wait for him to find THE MOST PAWFECT FOREVER HOME EVER!

A little bit more about the goodest of the good boys... Spanky's large personality fits his large size: He's a 4-year-old Bull Terrier mix who weighs a solid 54 pounds. He is neutered, up to date on shots, and is microchipped. He loves being outside and being active just as much as he loves being inside the home, right by your side, getting belly rubs and kisses on that massive forehead of his.

We asked Spanky if there's anything he'd like to add and here's what he had to say: "Hi, my name is Spanky! I am a very silly and happy boy and have been told that I am a "10/10 sploot" !!! I'm not really sure what that means, but the people here seem to find it endearing and I hope you will too. I am an energetic guy that would love to find a family that will keep me active but also give me plenty of snuggle time because I love to be close. I do have to say, I live for the limelight, so I would do my best in a home where I can be the only dog. (What can I say, I don't want to share my snuggle and play time) If I look and sound like your perfect match, please visit me today at NHA!" Well said, Spanky!

We could go on and on about this sweetheart who is so easy to love but may be harder to get adopted because of his breed, age, and size. Anyone out there reading this and falling in love with his pictures and Facebook Live with Wayne D Show... Please know that meeting SPANKY in person is even better! NHA is open for adoptions Tuesday through Sunday starting at 10am. Please come visit and ADOPT this wonderful adult dog. Again... He's lived in a shelter for over a year. He's ready. Plus, he deserves it. THANK YOU!
