Tim McGraw wants Ed Sheeran to attend the Music City Rodeo in Nashville, Tennessee. The historic event — the first and only Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeo in Music City — is slated to take place at Bridgestone Arena at the end of this month.
Sheeran recently appeared on an episode of Call Her Daddy, a podcast hosted by Alex Cooper. Cooper asked the global pop superstar for his “take on some very American things,” and brought up rodeos. Sheeran replied, “yeah, I’m down. …I feel like a rodeo is culture,” and added that he’d love to tour rodeos.
McGraw recapped that clip and extended an invitation to Sheeran on Thursday (May 22).
“We hear you wanted to come see a rodeo, so we’re officially inviting you to the Music City Rodeo. So come down and see us,” McGraw said with a rodeo competitor on either side of him. “Cole, here, is gonna be competing. He’s gonna win all the money this year,” McGraw said of one cowboy before turning to the other. “Tim’s a little injured, so he’s gotta wait ’til next year’s rodeo. But we’ll send him to come rope you and drag you to the rodeo if you don’t show up.”
The Music City Rodeo is set for May 29 through May 31. Reba McEntire will headline the event on Thursday, May 29, Jelly Roll will headline on Friday, May 30, and McGraw will headline on Saturday, May 31. Jenna Paulette, Kylie Frey, Johnny Hekker and Morgan Cox Of The Tennessee Titans, Cody Custer, Hillary Scott of Lady A, and others will take part in Music City Rodeo festivities, including the National Anthem and the Cowboy Prayer, per an announcement earlier this month.
“The Music City Rodeo is Nashville’s first and only PRCA Pro Rodeo, celebrating both country culture and the excitement of professional rodeo. Over three nights, more than 30,000 fans come together to experience classic rodeo events and live music in the heart of Nashville.”
